The Power of a Friend -- A Poem

The Power of a Friend

- by Brent Hoover 胡牧

On these long and dusty roads
Where my heart is so exposed
A brother walks and talks with me
As we press on to be set free

To be known is to be loved
By men on earth and God above
And through that man, a man can see
A man set free, is free indeed

But with a sigh and no more try
Men sit down to nurse a lie

No father ever loved them so
None on earth but one black crow.

The song it sang was but a dirge
And for so long man could not purge

The thought no Dad loved him real
And for that man, that sealed the deal

He did not know where that would go
To prison, yes, a lone dark cell

Anger, yes, but deep, long tears
That no man saw, because of fears

On these long and dusty roads
Where my heart is so exposed
A brother walks ‘n talks with me
As we press on to be set free

To be known is to be loved
By men on earth and God above
And through that man, a man can see
A man set free, is free indeed

The Nazarene, the one true man
The Lord in flesh and once He ran

To wayward sons, in shame and guilt
Jesus loved, and men he built

Out of their dark, out of their shame
In His embrace, they will remain
And walk as one, toward the Son
As friends for Life, till Life is won
